A load of new tunes....

LCD Soundsystem are back, here's the first track to drop from their forthcoming new album. James Murphy in trademark observation mode, with a little more of a Devo flavour than he's shown before...

After the domination of the female of the species in the world of chart breaking synth-pop via La Roux, Little Boots, Ellie Goulding et al its about time the boys had one to call their own (ignoring the much hyped but failed to deliver Frankmusik and Dan Black). Penguin Prison is here to take over the summer...

Two Door Cinema Club are the hottest UK band of the moment with their recent album of indie-disco perfection, here's a remix from The Twelves who quite simply bore everything they touch into your head and ensure your feet are well and truly moving...

While we are on a disco-house tip how about the new one from Tresure Fingers? A little quiet since his big hit 'Cross The Dancefloor' first dropped a couple of years ago but this should change that. Bring the funk...

Another big, big tune to drop comes from Duck Sauce, the collaboration project between two of the most talented men in electronic music, Armand Van Helden & A-Trak. Their set at the recent Miami WMC was seen by manby as the highlight of the weekend and this follow up to their filter-house classic 'aNYway' sees a little more punch and a whole lotta groove...

Lets have some perfect punk-pop now from The Futureheads. Much overlooked these days but you can't deny they always manage to come back with something catchy as hell...

See you on the dancefloor

Islands, Drugs, Michael Cera

The vast majoriy of my spare time this week has involved watching box-sets of one of the greatest comedies of recent times, Arrested Development. It's the show that made a star of Michael Cera and here he is in an unlikely role as a kid hallucinating from a bad trip in the video for the new single by Canadian synth-pop band Islands.

"flush it downstream, before it's found, drowned, swimming in your bloodstream"

And as a little bonus this wonderful lo-fi indie-pop ditty from frontman Nick Diamond's former group, complete wih home made Unicorn costumes. In fact if anyone ever comes to Embargo dressed like this I'll personally buy them drinks all night long...

And in a swift move of genially connecting seemingly unrelated bands, here's a few links to mp3s from Chew Lips forthcoming debut album 'Unicorn' out next week (Jan 25th). Latching onto the ever-popular quirky girl sings massive hooks over electro-lite beats ripe for remixing genre, expect this band to be all over the blogs, radio, tv and your eardrums for most of the coming year. Once the single 'Solo' ges a re-release it will be everywhere so get in early!

Plus a load load more tracks of theirs on Hype Machine

The snow continues, new releases, exciting leaks and goodbye to a legend

Right now I'm all about Miike Snow. The Swedish band makes as near perfect indie-electro-pop as you can possibly imagine. It's happy, shiny and hook-laden which is no real surprise when you realise two of the members are also known as Bloodshy & Avant, the writing and production team responsible for one of the greatest modern pop songs - Britney Spears' 'Toxic' as well as tracks for Madonna, Sugababes, Kylie, Kelis, Jamelia, Rachel Stevens, Ms Dynamite & Christina Milian. Here's a few links to their forthcoming collaboration for the new Crookers album, a chilled drum & bass remix from Netsky and a tribal roller from Sinden...

Crookers ft. Miike Snow - Remedy

Miike Snow - Black & Blue (Netsky Remix)

Miike Snow - Silvia (Sinden Remix)

It wouldn't be right this week to post without including something from the new Vampire Weekend album which hit the shops on Monday. Here's the video to the first single (proper) to be taken from it...

Also out this week is the debut album from British indie-dance band Delphic. Described somewhere (I can't remember where) as "Bloc Party raised on a diet of Chemical Brothers and early 90's euphoria." Which is not actually much of a statement considering that Bloc Party are self confessed admirers of said Chemical Brothers and early 90's euphoria but nevertheless it still works as a starting point for their sound. Contenders in the BBC Sound of 2010 poll they are almost certainly set to have a big year. Here's a video and a couple of mixes...

Delphic - Doubt (Riton Vox Remix)
Delphic - Doubt (Doc Daneeka's All Space For Grime Remix)

Other big tings this week include the leaking of Hot Chips forthcoming album, 'One Life Stand', due out in a months time. I won't tell you where to find it but have a hunt around, it's Hot Chip and its worth it. While you do check this video for one of their first singles from way back in 2005. It's a often overlooked gem...

And one more in tribute to soul legend Teddy Pendergrass who passed away this week. When was the last ime you got romantic with your lover?

Tuesday 22 December 2009

See I remembered another couple already...

Caspa - Lions Roar goes straight into the top 10 and buried in the other 75 is Little Boots - Meddle (AC Slater and DJ Skeet Skeet Reimx featuring Goldilocks)
