The vast majoriy of my spare time this week has involved watching box-sets of one of the greatest comedies of recent times, Arrested Development. It's the show that made a star of Michael Cera and here he is in an unlikely role as a kid hallucinating from a bad trip in the video for the new single by Canadian synth-pop band Islands.
"flush it downstream, before it's found, drowned, swimming in your bloodstream"
And as a little bonus this wonderful lo-fi indie-pop ditty from frontman Nick Diamond's former group, complete wih home made Unicorn costumes. In fact if anyone ever comes to Embargo dressed like this I'll personally buy them drinks all night long...
And in a swift move of genially connecting seemingly unrelated bands, here's a few links to mp3s from Chew Lips forthcoming debut album 'Unicorn' out next week (Jan 25th). Latching onto the ever-popular quirky girl sings massive hooks over electro-lite beats ripe for remixing genre, expect this band to be all over the blogs, radio, tv and your eardrums for most of the coming year. Once the single 'Solo' ges a re-release it will be everywhere so get in early!
